What is HEELS? HEELS is a women’s empowerment company offering personal and professional development services for female youth, college aged ladies & women business professionals. Services include one-on-one coaching, group trainings and speaking engagements.

Why the HEELS Boot Camp for teen youth this summer? Because whether your teen has aspirations of going into the workforce, transitioning into college, getting into politics, being a mom, starting her own business or becoming the 1st female president… the media has taken women as a whole & put them into a very negative “box”.

Check out the below video to see what our next generation of female youth is up against. Guys have their power ties, women have their HEELS, we just need more women standing confidently in them as they go through life.

HEELS Boot Camp Overview

What: HEELS is a summer program for 25 Toledo area teen girls looking for discovery & self awareness around goals & aspirations.

When: 3 coaching sessions: June 4th – Aug 3rd & 1 day Boot Camp: August 8th, 2012

Format: Each teen will schedule 3, one-on-one coaching sessions that are each one hour in length between June 4th – Aug 3rd, 2012 (total of 3 hours). This provides one-on-one attention and detail to each teens’ aspirations & unique goals by working with a coach individually. There will be a seperate 1 day boot camp on August 8th where all 25 teens will come together to hear speakers & participate in workshops as a group.

Where: Coaching Sessions - 3 one-on-one coaching sessions (each session one hour in length, total of 3 hours) will be held at my office in Perrysburg & scheduled around your teen’s summer job, extracurriculars, etc… These 3 hours will be scheduled between June 4th -Aug 3rd, 2012.

Where: 1 day Boot Camp - August 8th, 2012. Stone Oak Country Club: 8am – 5pm. This is an all day event and will be mandatory to attend as part of the Boot Camp. My Story

So what’s up with the red heels? No we are not suggesting that each teen go around in red heels and conquer the world. What it does symbolize is my story.

I was told in the middle of my successful career by a male “mentor” that until I had a ring on my finger, I was married, and until I had kids that I wouldn’t be taken seriously for the next BIG promotion. Wow. No one pepares you for this when you are younger. I was embarrassed, angry & confused all at the same time.

I wish I would have learned younger that these situations can come up & when they do come up how to better handle them or where to lean in for support. I moved 2 steps backwards that day and I began to question my self worth and indentity based on that one comment. What I should have been doing was remembering who I was and what I was capable of accomplishing. But it happens everyday, all day to plenty of teens and women around the world.

HEELS is all about bridging that gap. How many of us as women have said, “If someone would have just shown me or shared that with me when I was younger – it could have made all the difference in the world”.

Why Boot Camp?

  • A fun community for teens to be accepted & meet girls outside of their normal circle of friends
  • College Resume Builder
  • Exposes more young women to what is possible for her out in the world, creating motivators to succeed in college, before college
  • Educates teens on different resources available to make professional aspirations a reality (projects, internships, advocates, jobs out of college, networking, etc…)
  • Enhances confidence & self-esteem
  • A way to bring teen girls together to address and stop “bullying” in schools
  • Keeps girls motivated over the summer and possibly out of bad behaviors; drinking, drugs, etc…
  • An ongoing resource for teens to tap into when they have questions, comments, concerns in their life and their develoment. Life long community of support & mentorship
  • College is $30,000 – $150,000 and college retention rates are 50% nationally. Where’s the insurance policy for that? There isn’t one. Set your teen up for sucess earlier in order to help you retain the investment of your hard earned dollars as a parent.
